The entrance

The entrance sets the palette: warm hemlock walls in dark Cutek, a recycled brick wall, and limestone underfoot that runs through to the kitchen and out to the patio. We love the way some of the limestone tiles hold visible fossils. A floor-to-ceiling window brings the maples in, the front door pulls on American oak, and the fittings are Buster + Punch in matte black. Off the entry, a powder room in travertine and oak.

The entrance is warm from the first step. Hemlock lines the walls and ceiling, the walls in dark Cutek and the ceiling natural, with a recycled brick wall and limestone underfoot. The limestone runs from the entrance through to the kitchen, and on out to the paving and the patio, so the floor reads as one surface inside and out. We love the way some of the tiles hold fossils visible in the stone.A floor-to-ceiling window opens the entry to a side garden, so the maples meet you on the way in. The front door pulls on a length of American oak, and the switches and fittings are Buster + Punch in matte black. The powder room sits off the entry, in travertine and oak: a Robert Gordon basin, a honed travertine mosaic, and wall-mounted antique brass.Warm timber, recycled brick, stone underfoot and the garden through the glass. The palette starts at the door.

We love the way some of the tiles hold fossils visible in the stone.
