It's a door, on Frits Jurgens pivot hardware set into the floor and the head, balanced so the full height of the wall moves with one hand.Behind it's the snug, the second of Eden's three living areas. With the door closed it disappears into the wall and the room is private, somewhere to put the television, or the kids, or yourself, away from the main living. With it open, the snug joins the flow of the house and reads as one more space off the entrance.We thought a pivot door would be fun, and it's. We like the quiet of it: nothing announces the door, and it's the sort of detail you only notice when someone shows you, and then cannot stop noticing. The hardware costs more than a hinge and takes longer to hang. On a wall like this one, it's worth it.
