What you meet first: an oversized door with a Lo & Co marble pull you feel before you see, herringbone tiles in warm sand, and a floating credenza in oak and stone. Practical on purpose. The keys, the mail, the second-drawer stuff that comes into every house stops here, at the front door, where it belongs.

Recycled brick entry pavilion with charcoal steel cladding and brass hardware, flanked by ornamental grasses.

The entrance sets the temperature: warm materials and practical joinery. Herringbone tiles in sand, white VJ panelling, and a floating credenza in light oak under a Calacatta Luxe top. The front door itself is oversized, a dark timber panel set in reclaimed brick, opened by a disc of Carrara marble that's cool in the hand.The credenza is the practical part, doing quiet work. Every house collects keys, mail, sunglasses, the second-drawer stuff that comes in the door and never needs to go further. We gave all of it a home in the first two metres, so it doesn't follow you into the house.Ahead, a full wall of oak reads as panelling. It's the snug's pivot door, and the entry keeps that to itself until someone shows you.

The first thing you touch at a house matters.
